Orlando TV Ratings: Florida Gators top college football viewers

The Florida Gators’ upset win over Ole Miss Rebels topped the Orlando TV ratings among college football games Saturday.

The Florida Gators’ 38-10 win over Ole Miss on Saturday night was the most watched College Football game in Orlando with 194,295 viewers. It is the second week in a row the Gators were the most watched College Football game in Orlando.

The Florida Gators’ win over Ole Miss on Saturday night on ESPN was the second most viewed sporting event of the week with 194,295 viewers behind only the Green Bay Packers win over San Francisco 49ers. Below is the top five most watched sporting events of the week in Orlando.

  2. Ole Miss at Florida: 194,295
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapoilis Colts: 185,022
  4. Dallas Cowboys at New Orleans Saints: 183,697 (Sunday Night Football on NBC)
  5. Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers 180,946 (Thursday Night Football on CBS)

The Gators-Rebels game was also nationally a big draw as it was the most watched cable program on Saturday and fourth most watched college football game overall Saturday with 3.7 million viewers nationally.  Below are national numbers of college football games involving state teams.

  2. Miami at Cincinnati : 1.348 million ( ESPN Thursday Night College Football)

  5. Bethune-Cookman vs UNC- Central : 105,000 ( ESPNU Tape Delay 10:30 p.m.)
  6. UCF at Tulane : 73,000 (ESPNNews Noon Kick)

Florida State’s game against Wake Forest went up against stiff competition in Ohio State-Indiana and Alabama-Georgia which were the second and third most watched college football games of the day behind only the primetime Notre Dame-Clemson game.

Orlando Viewers up Early to Watch Miami Dolphins- New York Jets game in London.

Orlando had no problem getting up early for the 9:30 a.m. special kickoff time to see the Miami Dolphins lose to the New York Jets in what would be Joe Philbin’s last game as Dolphins head coach.

The Jets-Dolphins game, which was played in London and was shown live on WKMG-CBS at 9:30 a.m., garnered  165,771 viewers in Orlando.

It was the sixth most watched sporting event of the week in Orlando.

Despite the early kick, the game garnered more viewers then the Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss to the Carolina Panthers (135,593). The Dolphins also had more viewers than the last two Monday Night Football games between Green Bay Packers-Kansas City Chiefs (114,291) last week and Detroit Lions-Seattle Seahawks (131,631) this past Monday.

Nationally The Jets/Dolphins NFL International Series game had a 7.2 overnight rating — up nine percent from Lions/Falcons in Week 8 last year, the only other 9:30 AM start in NFL history (6.6). That game aired on FOX.
