When Scott Frost arrived from Oregon, the offense was not the only thing he said he was bringing. The UCF Knights would also be getting a little bit more flair on the uniform and equipment department.

He so far has not disappointed.

UCF’s new uniform set is not garish or blinding like the Oregon set can be at times. But it is definitely different and definitely shows the attention to detail that Nike has brought to several other scores.

Like everything, do not blink or you will miss something in the new uniform combination Vine:

To review that is a white, black and anthracite, pewter jersey; white, black and anthracite pants; gold, black, white and anthracite gloves; and gold, white, pewter and anthracite helmets. The helmet also appears to have a new scheme to it too with a sword coming across the crown.

In a video released to UCFastUniforms.com, coach Scott Frost said one of his first calls when arriving in Orlando was to Nike chairman Phil Knight where he expressed his desire to update UCF’s uniform look.

It is most definitely a recruiting ploy and no one is hiding behind that. UCF wanted to build a jersey that would look “cool” to incoming recruits.

There are several neat elements to the uniform. Gone are the shoulder ringlets and in is the Pegasus logo on the shoulder pads.

Nike representatives said they were inspired by the space program and UCF’s proximity to Kennedy Space Center. That explains some of the weird paneling on the jersey that is supposed to resemble the paneling on the space shuttle.

There are a lot of jersey combinations the Knights can use — 16 to be exact and Frost suggests the uniforms will turn over some every few years.

They have already announced special fan shirt routines for the team’s six home games. Certainly, the uniforms will match. And, yes, last names are returning to the back of the jersey.

So already the marketing blitz for UCF’s uniforms have already kicked up as the team tries to generate some excitement for the beginning of the season in August.

This is a good look for UCF. One that will help attract new recruits and maybe move some merchandise. Certainly a lot of people feared a lot worse when it comes to Nike and Oregon’s uniforms.

Overall, it is a good job.
