UCF’s cheerleading squad finished in second place at the College Cheerleading Championship last week at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports at Disney. The perennial national powers finished second for the fourth straight year and have posted top-four finishes in each of the last 11 years.

Kentucky won the national championship this year.

“I am proud of the fight we showed and especially honored to have worked daily with our seven seniors, who have led our team to three-straight runner-up appearances,” cheerleading coach Linda Gooch said. Their leadership has once again kept UCF in the national spotlight. I am so proud the entire team for their hard work and the way that they have represented our program and university.”

UCF is perennially among the very best cheerleading teams in the country every year and they kept up to that billing once again this year.

The cheerleading competition mixes traditional cheering with tumbling and acrobatics, as you can see. Mascots are a separate competition, but we are sure Knightro does well there too.
