Eddie McDoom made waves in Central Florida this year as the athletic receiver to help West Orange to the doorstep of the state semifinals. The Warriors finally defeated the Blue Darters in the playoffs and ended their state championship run.

McDoom was a big-time playmaker for West Orange, often being on the receiving end of Woody Barrett’s passes. He was the dynamic receiver the dynamic Auburn-bound quarterback needed.

In December, McDoom committed to Oregon but he confirmed he has moved off that commitment and re-opened his commitment.

Sunday he announced his de-commitment, citing his desire to visit other schools despite his commitment. Oregon, like some schools, does not honor commitments from recruits who re-open their recruitment after informing them of a commitment.

Quickly, one school seems to have pulled ahead.

Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider reports Michigan is the early favorite for McDoom as he re-opens his recruitment.

According to 247Sports, McDoom was also considering Kentucky and Florida in addition to Michigan and Oregon.

The speedy wide receiver is rated a three-star prospect and the 56th best prospect in Florida. Throughout the season this year, he showed his playmaking ability and speed as the burner for Woody Barrett to throw to on the perimeter.

McDoom participated in the Under Armour All-America Game and scored a touchdown as a late addition in the all-star game held in Orlando on Jan. 2.

McDoom is undoubtedly one of the top prospects in the Orlando area. He was one of the stars of the previous season. What he decides on Signing Day is going to be a big story in early February for the Orlando high school scene.
