Orlando City’s 2-2 draw against the New England Revolution on Sunday on ESPN garnered 229,000 viewers nationally according to SportsTVRatings.com.  It was easily the most watched MLS game of the day as it easily topped Dallas-Sporting KC on FS1, which garnered 138,000 viewers in comparison in primetime.

The 229,000 viewers for Orlando City-New England is slightly up from last year’s Orlando City game at Portland on April 12, 2015 which garnered 226,000 viewers.

Orlando City-New England was the second most viewed Orlando City game of the season behind only Orlando City’s win over Portland on April 3rd on FS1 which garnered 261,000 viewers.

Orlando City’s games of late have been embroiled with controversy. For the second straight week, the team is looking to the officials for some relief and explanation. The Lions were called for a handball in stoppage time that resulted in a penalty kick that tied the game.

This came a week after PRO admitted the game-winning goal in Philadelphia should not have been allowed.

It has been a rough two weeks for the team. But through it all, Orlando City continues to attract viewers. Kaka is an undeniable draw and the Lions are still near the top of the Eastern Conference table early on in the season.

They will next be on national TV on Sunday as the Lions travel to New York to take on the New York Red Bulls on FOX Sports 1.
