Orlando TV Ratings: Miami Dolphins-New England Patriots crushes Thursday competition

The Miami Dolphins’ blowout loss to the New England Patriots crushed the competition Thursday night in the Orlando television market.

Thursday Night Football dominated other television shows on Thursday night like the New England Patriots dominated the Miami Dolphins on the field.

The Patriots’ 36-7 win over the Dolphins on CBS garnered 246,879 viewers in Orlando making it the most viewed Thursday Night Football game aired on CBS this season. The game also garnered an additional 42,296 viewers on NFL Network in Orlando making it the most watched cable program in Orlando on Thursday night beating college football, NBA and WWE Smackdown among other programs.

The combine CBS/NFL Network viewers of  289,175  is the second most viewed football game in Orlando this NFL season behind only last Sunday’s New York Giants 27-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Four of the six most watched NFL games this season in Orlando has involved either the Patriots or the Dolphins.

To put the Dolphins-Patriots numbers in perspective, the Dolphins-Patroits game had more viewers in Orlando than Games One and Two of the World Series between the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals combined did in Orlando with 265,766 viewers.

CBS’s NFL Pregame show was the number two watched program in Orlando with 170,623 viewers. ABC’s ” Scandal” was distant third with 102,930 viewers. ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy which has beaten Thursday Night Football a few times this season in Orlando did not air on Thursday. Instead ABC aired “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”.

According to Orlando Sentinel’s Hal Boedeker,  The Dolphins-Patriots game was also number one in Orlando among the 18-49 demographic in Orlando followed by  Scandal, ABC drama How To Get Away with Murder, and WWE Smackdown.
